AUGUST 2012  Drivers in Western NSW are being urged to turn their headlights on during the day to reduce the risk of being involved in a crash particularly in poor weather conditions.

Transport for NSW is running the 'Headlights On' campaign to promote vehicle visibility during the day and improve road safety on the Great Western, Mid-Western and Mitchell Highways.

"In 2011, over 70% of crashes occurred on these highways during daylight, dusk and dawn, while 40% of crashes occurred during rain, fog or low light conditions," a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
