Hey Tosser!

HEY TOSSER! PUT IT IN THE BIN!

Hey Tosser! Did you know that litter damages our natural environments, harms wildlife and sea creatures, can injure people and makes our spaces less safe and healthy? So when you toss your cigarette butt or your coffee cup, you’re hurting the environment.

In fact, a global study found that by 2050 it’s likely that 95% of all seabird species will have plastic in their gut!

The Hey Tosser! campaign has been developed to change littering behaviour in NSW and with an immediate goal to reduce the volume of litter in NSW by 40% by 2020. NSW is almost halfway there – with a 19% litter reduction since the start of the campaign in 2013–14, but there is still a way to go.

REPORT A TOSSER! DON’T GET ANNOYED, GET ONLINE

Roadside litter is one of NSW’s most unnecessary and preventable environmental problems. Litter damages our natural environments, wildlife and sea creatures, it can injure people and makes our spaces less safe. Litter is also very costly. Each year more than $180 million is spent managing litter in NSW alone.

Did you know you have the power to Report a Tosser and become part of the solution? Individuals can be fined $250 for littering from a vehicle and organisations can be fined $500. Any member of the community can report littering from cars to the EPA, which can issue fines based on these reports.

To Report a Tosser littering from their vehicle you will need to Report to EPA. You will need to have actually seen the litter being thrown, or blown, from the vehicle, be able to provide the vehicle registration details and the location where the littering took place and finally, report the incident within 14 days.

The NSW Taxi Council is encouraging everyone to get on board. Do your part to help keep our environment safe and clean for everyone to enjoy. Visit Report to EPA to register to Report a Tosser!

Report a Tosser is part of the NSW State Government’s anti-littering initiative that aims to reduce litter in NSW by 40% by 2020. By getting on board you can do your part to keep our environment safe and clean for everyone to enjoy.
