Taxi Licence Owners, and other NSW Taxi Industry representatives will from today be eligible to apply for additional assistance, as part of the $250 million Industry Assistance Package that was committed following the Point to Point Transport Reforms announced by the NSW Government in December, 2015.
NSW Taxi Council CEO Martin Rogers said “Although this has been a lengthy and drawn out process, we welcome the announcement by Transport for NSW today. This is an opportunity for those who have been detrimentally affected to apply for further assistance. Whilst the $142 million in additional assistance is a starting point, it does not fully address the significant loss of equity experienced by Taxi Licence owners, in their licence values.”
Mr Rogers added, “We are also pleased to hear that Taxi Licence Owners who may not have had the opportunity to receive any Transitional Assistance Payments in round one, will now be given a second chance to apply, which is something the NSW Taxi Council advocated extensively for”.
Business Connect Advisors across the state are available to assist with applications. Fact sheets are also available on the Transport for NSW website. Please refer to the following link: www.transport.nsw.gov.au/industryassistance
