TAXI DRIVER AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

WHAT IS THE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM ABOUT?

The Taxi Driver Ambassador Program is a training program that has been established to help taxi drivers deliver higher service standards for a world class experience for tourists and visitors in our world class city.

The program focuses on providing the best of the best taxi services, from the moment a tourist arrives, during their stay and when they are travelling home at the end of their visit.

​

The program aims to:

• Improve passenger experiences, especially for visitors to our city.

• Enable taxi drivers to deliver higher service & safety standards.

• Enhance driver knowledge of Sydney's landmarks and attractions.

• Contribute to a world-class experience for tourists and visitors.

• Heighten awareness around transporting vulnerable passengers, particularly passengers with a disability, including wheelchair users.

The Taxi Driver Ambassador Program has been developed by the NSW Taxi Council, in collaboration with Stakeholders from NSW Taxi Industry,  Business Sydney, Destination NSW and City of Sydney.

In this course, you will learn and become more familiar with: 

• the role of taxis in Sydney’s tourism industry

• how to improve passenger experiences

• setting higher standards for service delivery

• regulatory framework and expectations

​

You will also gain additional knowledge of Sydney landmarks and attractions, route planning and navigation skills with a focus on ensuring safe, suitable, convenient, and accessible pick-up and drop-off points.

HOW DO I BECOME A TAXI DRIVER AMBASSADOR?

You need to be an existing Taxi Driver (minimum of 3 months experience/20 shifts) with a valid Taxi Driver ID card.​

You will also need a letter from your Taxi Network endorsing your application. The letter must be on your Network's letterhead and include a copy of your complaint history. Once you have the letter, please email a copy to ambassador@nswtaxi.org.au
